Grasim Industries Ltd has been bestowed with the CII-ITC Sustainability Award 2019 for Environment Management. CII-ITC has recognised the accomplishments of Grasilene Division, Harihar a unit of Grasim Industries, and rewarded the unit for its tremendous achievements in the environmental front with the Sustainability Award for Environment Management in 2019.

Key highlights of Grasilene Division, Harihar Unit’s sustainability achievements are:
  • Highest sodium sulphate salt recovery among Group, leading to less load on effluent treatment plant, better quality of treated wastewater.
  • Continuous reduction in water consumption adopting 4R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Regenerate) principles.
  • Continuous reduction in chemicals and raw materials (such as Zinc, Lime, Caustic Soda), steam and energy consumption putting less load on fossil fuel consumptions.
  • 100 per cent utilisation of power plant fly ash in downstream -- Adopting scientific methodology.
