H K Agarwal, MD Grasim Industries accepted the award from Honorable Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman
Honourable Finance Minister, Smt Nirmala Sitharaman ji, Honourable Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and IT, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw ji, and esteemed members of the Jury -- It is my honour and privilege to accept the ET Conscious Corporate of the Year Award on behalf of Grasim Industries, and that too in the 25th year of these awards.
Grasim’s journey is deeply intertwined with India's path to Atmanirbhar Bharat. Incorporated exactly 10 days after India's independence, Grasim has grown from being a textile manufacturer into a global leader across fibre, chemicals, and cement. Grasim has bolstered domestic manufacturing capabilities through continuous reinvention and innovation. In the process, it has championed the Make in India endeavour by driving self-reliance in key industries. Grasim's path over the last eight decades has been characterized by growth, resilience and an unshakeable commitment to excellence.
This award is a testament to the visionary and inspiring leadership of our Chairman, Shri Kumar Mangalam Birla whose guidance has been the cornerstone of our success. Under his leadership, we have built a strong global presence while staying grounded in our roots—an Atmanirbhar Grasim, born in India, and thriving on the world stage. Thank you, Mr Birla.
We deeply value the ET Conscious Corporate Award, as it recognises our unwavering commitment to sustainability, which is at the core of our strategy across all our businesses. This commitment is embedded in a well-defined ESG framework that guides our efforts to create lasting value for all stakeholders. Our culture fosters responsible decision-making, emphasizing efficient use of resources, ethical governance, and sustainable profitability while prioritizing environment and promoting a circular economy.
Grasim remains dedicated to environmental stewardship across its diverse business segments, proactively addressing climate-related risks and opportunities. Our initiatives align with India’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and the Net Zero target for FY 2069-70. In pursuit of this vision, we have set an ambitious target to achieve net zero emissions by FY 2049-50. Guided by our purpose, we take a long-term view, acting as responsible custodians of our planet for future generations.
Grasim today through its CSR initiatives touches the lives of over 1.2 million people. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Shrimati Rajashree ji Birla, whose leadership and dedication to CSR initiatives continue to inspire us.
And finally, I would like to dedicate this Award to every employee at Grasim Industries—this achievement is a testament to their relentless commitment and hard work.
Thank you.
